EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR & PROFESSOR

A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Anne Marshall is an associate professor of history at Mississippi State University, where she has taught for 16 years. She is also the executive director of the Ulysses S. Grant Association and the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library. She is a graduate of Centre College of Kentucky, and the University of Georgia. Her book Creating a Confederate Kentucky: The Lost Cause and Civil War Memory in a Border State (University of North Carolina Press, 2010) has met wide acclaim in both popular and academic circles. She is currently writing a biography of the colorful anti-slavery activist Cassius Marcellus Clay, who served as Lincoln’s minister to Russia. She is the author of one book and several prize-winning articles, which have appeared in journals including the Journal of the Civil War Era and Slavery & Abolition. Marshall frequently speaks to public and academic audiences at historical societies, Civil War Roundtables, and the 2012 and 2017 Gettysburg Civil War Institute. She is a member of the Society of Civil War Historians.

PROFESSOR

Dr. Ryan P. Semmes is Professor and Coordinator of the Congressional and Political Research Center at the Mississippi State University Libraries. He has been on the faculty at Mississippi State University since 2007 and has worked as archivist with the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library at MSU since 2009. Ryan is currently working on a book project which focuses on the connections between foreign and domestic policy and the nature of citizenship during the Reconstruction era.

PROFESSOR

David S. Nolen holds the rank of Professor in the Mississippi State University Libraries. He is a co-editor of The Personal Memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant: The Complete Annotated Edition (Harvard University Press, 2017) and a co-author of Hold on with a Bulldog Grip: A Short Study of Ulysses S. Grant (University Press of Mississippi, 2019).

ASSISTANT TO THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Eddie Rangel is the Assistant to the Executive Director of the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library and Museum. He also plays an active role in the management of the Ulysses S. Grant Association. He is also a Ph.D. candidate in history at Mississippi State University. His dissertation focuses on American Cold War diplomacy. He holds a BA in History from Blue Mountain College and an MA in History from Mississippi State University.

PRESIDENT & CEO

Robin von Seldeneck is the President and CEO of the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum. Robin received her undergraduate degree from Mary Baldwin College where she double majored in History and Political Science; and her Masters in Public Administration from James Madison University.
